SystemC Configuration, Control & Inspection (CCI) Working Group
Charter
The SystemC Configuration, Control and Inspection WG is responsible for developing standards that allow tools to interact with models in order to perform activities such as setup, debug and analysis.
Chair: Lukas Jünger, MachineWare
Vice-Chair: Bart Vanthournout, Synopsys
Scope
This group is defining standards for the exchange of information between SystemC models and tools. The goal of these important standards is to improve efficiency and ROI for both model creators and tool providers. They will allow suppliers to instrument models so that a rich user experience is enabled, and they will allow industry tools to leverage this instrumentation to provide powerful debug and analysis capabilities. The WG is initially focusing on configuration for which the requirements specification has been publicly reviewed; development of a draft standard is underway. Future areas being considered are visibility (internal state, power data, performance stats, etc.) with monitor/trace controls, model-specific command/control messaging, registers, and save/restore functionality.
Background
In December 2017, the CCI Configuration Requirements Specification was released for a public review period that extended through March 18, 2018. Supplemental materials in the review kit includes an overview presentation, proof-of-concept implementation, and more than 20 examples. In May 2018, the CCI 1.0 Language Reference Manual was approved by the Board of Directors as an Accellera standard. The Working Group is now working on a reference implementation and a collection of examples to demonstrate the use and value of the SystemC CCI 1.0 standard. Read the press release >
